Evidence based practice is defined as the process of collecting, processing and implemenring research findings to improve clinical practice, the work enviroment or patient outcome. In doing this it is providing the highest quality and most cost efficient patient care possible. Working as a LPN I believe it is important to incorporate EBP into my daily routine. There are new medications and techinques in care that comes out every day and it is important to use these new ways to care for the patients we see every day. Proper handhygiene, Wound care, and new medicaations are just a few things that can be incorporated to better care and treat the patient. EBP can also include reducing infections as well. In a world of growing technlogy I believe keeping up with the latest in sense of practices is important for best patient outcome.Â
Nursing should include evidence based practice into their daily routines. It is a important tool because it enables nurses to make data backed solutions that include clinical expertise and current research into the decision making process (Titler,2018). In order to give the client the best care there should be research that can be followed that way nurses are able to do the right procedures along with good communication with the client about their care. For example when it comes to infection control there is evidence that if proper hand hygiene is not made such as when working with a patient whom has Clostridium difficile then it can be easily spread to other patients, and that is why it is important to wash hands with soap and water when coming out of those rooms. Looking at evidence based practice can not only help with infection control but also in other areas. Every client is different therefore it is important to follow these steps which are to ask, acquire, appraise, apply, and assess. It is important to formulate answearable questions about a patient, problem, intervention, or outcome (Titler, 2018).Â
