The activity

Joan Gait has a surgical incision on her right knee. Review her chart in the EHR. She requires a daily dressing change. This is postoperative day 3, and you are the nurse completing Joan’s wound care. It is likely that Joan will be going home tomorrow, and discharge teaching is initiated

The old dressing is removed, and you note a moderate amount of serosanguinous drainage on the gauze. You complete the dressing change. As you were doing the dressing change, you began some discharge teaching for Joan.
