I encourage you all to find out if those representing you in office are nurse friendly, regardless of what party they are affiliated with. Many states have bills coming up in the next year that have to do with nursing and NP scope of practice. There are likely to be COVID-19 related policies that could directly affect how you practice as a nurse.
Electing the right person into office has never been more important! Would you want the Senator from Washington state, Maureen Walsh, looking out for you? She thinks you all “play cards” during work and shouldn’t be guaranteed a lunch break, meanwhile she backpedals saying she was tired when she made that statement. What about when nurses are tired? Need a break from wearing a N95 and face shield all day? A 15 minute or 30-minute lunch could save a tired nurse from making a medical error and killing someone.
