Studies relating to healthcare have increased strikingly over the past two decades. A well-conducted systematic review of literature ensures clinicians are kept up to date with current evidence-based healthcare research. After formulating a PICOT question, a researcher must use various strategies to address the question based on evidence-based research. The first strategy is conducting preliminary research to ensure the validity of the proposed idea, avoid duplication of questions discussed previously, and ensure sufficient studies for conducting the analysis. The second is identifying the best search strategy, which includes free-text terms and appropriate text indexing such as to retrieve eligible studies. Boolean operators, including AND and OR, should also be used to formulate logical phases the database can understand. The third literature review strategy is identifying search databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, and EMBASE, which have accurate and comprehensive research.
After conducting a systematic review, it is essential to assess the studies’ relevance to a particular context. Appraising the literature for obese HCP will involve evaluating whether the selected study addresses obesity in HCP, whether the information was obtained from relevant medical research databases and whether relevant key terms such as obesity, health care professional, and overweight were used. Additionally, the appraisal will involve assessing the presence of research or publication biases and whether the results can be generalized to all obese HCP based on the study population and sample size. Regarding literature review, a training regime builds positive energy and attitude in obese HCP, which boosts their morale and increases workplace productivity. Additionally, a training regime promotes weight loss, improves fitness, and prevents weight regain in obese HCP resulting in better health outcomes. In contrast, non-compliant obese HCP record poor job, performance and increase their chances of developing chronic illness by failing to adhere to a training regime.
