In order to understand the research that is available, you, as nurses, must critique an article before you decide to utilize its content. You want to be sure that all data is as valid and reliable as possible before you utilize it as best practice.
Go to the literature and search for a nursing research study. This should be a Randomized Clinical Trial Study that is quantitative in nature. Be certain that you answer sufficiently, or you will not receive credit for all of your answers.
Review the web links in the web field trip and utilize the articles provided on how to critique a quantitative nursing research study (within 5 years) you locate in the literature.
Carefully follow the steps to critique and discuss the following:
• the problem
• purpose of the study
• research question
• hypothesis (if one is listed, if not, state what do you think it would be)
• methodology (see handout in learning module)
• subjects and setting (discuss the subjects demographics)
• collection of data – How was this accomplished?
• the instruments (Be sure to identify the instruments used to measure the variables..do you think they were reliable?)
• data analysis – How was the data analyzed?
• results – What were the results of the study? and what strengths and limitations that you see within the study
I do not expect long answers, just straight and to the point. You must attach the article for the post to be graded. I appreciate any assistance.
